Default Europe is freakin' expensive!!!!

I've been in Europe (Germany and England, going to Holland tomorrow) for about a week and half now, and it is EXPENSIVE!! My god, a double cheeseburger here is 1 pound, that's like $2! A bottle of water is about $2. Hotel is about 150pounds per night (almost 300!!) in a room that's about the size of my walk-in closet. WTH is going on here?

Get to some countries that have made the switch to euros. I agree, England hurts.

Take a hop over to Ireland. Not quite as bad.

Hey Mingster, are you going to spend any time in Amsterdam? I think that's going to be my next vacation destination (for obvious reasons ), and I'd be interesting in hearing your impressions and observations (both in general and specifically about cost).

well being a brit i have to completely agree that europe is pretty expencive but i could say the US is cheap!!!! i live in a 3 bedroomed house (very average for the UK) and for the same price i could live in like a 6 or 7 bedroom house in the US! but being british we just moan about the weather and bear with all the expencive things in life
yeah we are messed up

Even in the countries using Euros, it's still damn expensive. I was over in France, Italy, Spain, and the UK over the Christmas holidays, and it absolutely sucks.

In London it was absurd, the conversion at just about 2:1. Then, consider a 12oz can of Coke costs 2 pounds and you get an idea of how expensive it is over there. You'll see something you want, and the price will look normal, until you remember to multiply by 2.

Everywhere else, it wasn't too bad. Cokes only cost $2 to $5 - no, not for a 18-pack, but for a single 12oz. can.

cyber_x,
Make sure to stop by the red light district in Amsterdam... And also learn the difference between 'coffeehouse' and 'cafe' before you get there.

You see that is what happens in borderline socialist countries. You should see their tax rates. Plus the euro will do nothing but INFLATE prices.
