GW initially offered $35 Mil, 10% of the current offer, which was barely half of Spain's first offer.

That is correct!

They also have seemed to forget that the U.S. is still at wars, and has spent billions of dollars on them. We are not at liberty to donate much more than other nations, like Japan, China, etc. They are not spending the kinds of money we are.

i thought it was 15 mil, then raised to 35, then to 350. I also read that most of the aid is being given to the tourists to make them happy and the natives are getting shafted.

This is coming from a Canadian. We've spent billions of dollars and lost over a thousand lives to free a country from cruel dictatorship and help rid the world of terrorism.

The comment from UN is uncalled for. US officials stated that they were assessing the situation and will do what is best for the situation as things start to unfold. To come out and blindly donate millions or billions will not help. I am sure at the end of all this, US will still be the one that provides the most resources.

Plus, I think US is getting smarter after the OIL for Food program that UN have with Saddam. I am sure US is trying to make sure their $$$ is not going into the pockets all of these UN officials.

UN :thrumbs down:

Iraq was an excuse, Sadam was a bonus, Bin Ladin is still hiding in 2005, we're still losing lives for something that wasn't even resolved from 911...which Bin Ladin is at fault. I don't get how we can find Sadam but not Bin Ladin after what?...3-4 years...B.S. Stick to the initial initiative ... we're just policing now, period, and continuing to lose lives...sad sad

UN :thrumbs down:
Agreed. The U.N. is an antiquated concept run by corrupt morons based in of all countries .. france.

The fact that the Sudanese ambassador sits on the committe for human rights is a great case and point as to how out of touch with reality the U.N. is.

You would think Europeans would still remember that it was the United States, mostly alone through private and goverment programs that rebuilt their nations after WWII. I am certain the U.S. will lead the effort in this case as well -- but as was said above, simply throwing money at the problem before applying logic and reason only serves to waste.
