Default Ever wondered what a complete iceberg looks like?

Thought I'd share this great pic of an iceberg, which came in an email.

This is an amazing shot, which came from a Rig Manager for Global
Marine.

Drilling in St. Johns, Newfoundland. They actually have to divert the path of these things away from the rig by towing them with ships!

Anyway, in this particular case the water was calm & the sun was almost directly overhead so that the diver was able to get into the water and click this pic. They estimated the weight at 300,000,000 tons.

I think this is a FAKE. I am a diver and I know a little about how light reacts in water and how an image will show up when half of it is above water and the other half is below.

Not to mention, if you take a look at the water, it isnt that calm. There are about 6" ripples in the watter. That aint much, but from the distance that one would need in order to get this entire berg in the shot, 6" ripples would partially, if not completely block the view of the section of berg that is above water.

It looks to me more like someone took a picture of the section of berg that is above whater from I low to the water boat, perhaps a zodiac and then the section that is under water was added later. Perhaps it is of the same berg and they simply cut the two pictures together, but I highly doubt it is a single photo taken the way it is represented in this image.

I agree, the boundry between air and water in the pic just ain't right.

I'm also curious about the rays of light as depicted underwater. Sunlight is essentially parallel by the time it reaches Earth. Those rays at those angles look a little suspect.

neat looking pic but it *is* completely fake.

There is simply no possible way to take that photo in real life... plus, it just looks fabricated! (colors saturated, underwater god rays, clarity, angle, etc...)

Gotta agree - looks fake to me. It would have to be an awfully bright light shining up from the bottom to make those colors. Probably a nice depiction of what it does look like.

If it is a fake, at least it's an interesting one. You've heard the expression, "Just the tip of the iceberg." Well, now you know where it came from. The next time you're enjoying an iced drink, notice how the cube sits in your drink in roughly the same position as does the iceberg in the ocean.

I'm not sure where I saw this pic, but I've seen it before. Even though it is a fake, it sure demostrates how dangerous these things can be.
