We used to have idiots show up looking for Dan (the guy selling cocaine) all the time at 3:00am.....that didn't work so well, so we moved out on him fairly quickly...

I could barely afford to eat the free food from my work in college (plus free beer as long as we didn't get caught) let alone trying coke.

Beer and marijuana are definitely the most prevalent means of "recreation" in college. Some psychedelics here and there. Everything else is too expensive and/or takes so much out of you that I doubt you stick around for long. I don't even know what's so "awesome" about the cocaine high. Never tried it, never will. But I can see where the intrigue can come from, especially with all those celebrities.

cocaine and ecstasy are actually fairly prevalent in college....

that, and painkillers... lotsa people like vicodin.

I'll give you E, and certain opiates. But that's it. Who wants to do coke in college? All you do is sit there and buzz for 25 minutes, and then you're left with nothing but a craving. Drugs like marijuana, LSD, shrooms, and E last for hours and are enjoyable in a college atmosphere (whether that's at a club, at a frat, dorms, etc.) and are cheap enough for college kids to obtain them regularly. A hit of LSD, or E, or shrooms, is only going to cost you from $5-40, and you'll be gone for hours, and once you're done, you go back to normal (most of the time). Coke and heroin, no way. I'd say a majority of people who truly "enjoy drugs" as a recreational experience (tripping) stay away from cocaine. Cocaine is simply a status symbol for losers (IMO). I can go run a mile and get my heart rate up, but nothing can provide the experience of other drugs (and at such an affordable cost to young'ns)
