i would have rolled down my window, said hello, and gotten her contact info. if the current gf is rational, she'll agree that it's healthy to remain in friendly contact with exes. if she is irrational, then just tell her it was an old friend. of course i am a little intolerant of irrational women.

You don't need to run her over, just knock her down or push her slightly with the car which will cause reason to see if she is ok and then reason to start a conversation. If things ended badly wait for her to get back up then really give it to her.

The worst situation is when you and your ex still like each other and are on good terms.
