Explain this to your parents... (long)
Last night the weather was nice so we went out bike riding. We meet at a usual spots and usually you get a bunch of groupies that want to go along on a bike ride. Usually, depending on how they look, they might get a ride. Most of the people I ride with are anywhere from 21 to 35....there are a few younger guys and a few older guys. One of the older guys (we call him Grandpa) is 54...he looks like he is maybe 40 tops. He is a very nice guy and usually a save driver. He rides an 02 R1.
We went to Dover (a 18 mile stretch filled with some 40+ corners) and then we usually make it to a spot where we drag race for a while. It is far away from the city than 99% of the time no one will bother us. Very little traffic too.
Anyway, last night this group of 4 girls approaches us and they wanted to go riding. They looked about 22-24 all of them...they confirmed they were 19-22...One of them got on "Grandpa's" bike and we got there. After we did our "drag"
we decided to head back. We usually end up splitting in 3 groups...hot, spicy and mild depending on the speed we cruise.
We made it back and realized the mild group was taken longer and longer than usual. Sure enough, we get the regreted call...."somenone has gone down, it is not pretty". We hurry back only to get there and to Grandpa trying to start a fight with this other guy.
Grandpa had overcooked a corner (devil's advocate) and went down with his passenger. Grandpa had hit his head pretty good and was bleeding pretty bad and had also broke several ribs. However, he was getting on this other guys face because he would not let him ride. He wanted to leave before the cops got there. Any other day it would have been fine but obviously he was in no condition to ride back and the girl had a considerable amount of rode rash. Fortunately, she had gotten a little bit spooked and had asked for a helmet on the way back (smart girl)....the helmet was scratched pretty bad and I am 100% sure if she would have not been wearing it, she would probably had ended up in the hospital with nasty scratches all over her head/face.
Well, the firemen got there about 20 minutes later and so did the cops. HOWEVER, WHEN THEY WERE GETTING DRIVER'S LICENSES AND EVERYTHING ELSE, IT TURNS OUT THE GIRL WAS ONLY 15!!!!
Everyone was
I simply could not believe it. Grandpa is a lawyer and also owns a couple of small businesses in town. He ended up getting a ticket for excessive speed ??
and for expired tags. However, the cops let him ride back home. We followed him back and had to make him stop halfway through the trip back as he was weaving in and out of the lanes. We called for a truck and took him home. He was pissed at us...WTF?
Right then and there, I told ALL of my buddies that if I EVER were in a situation like that NOT to EVER let me drive...to kick my ass if had to but NOT to let me on a bike afterwards....
I am not sure of the consequences or what could happen to Grandpa, I am just very puzzled by his reaction. He now won't take any of her calls but I am also concerned about the young girl....how do you go home and explain that to your parents....ayayay...my niece is only 14, one year younger and it is very scary what they can get into without knowing what they are "really " getting into.
After all that, I went straight home, watched a movie and went to bed. Everytime someone wrecks I loose all will to continue riding that same night.

first off i don't own a bike.....i would trust myself on one, but wouldn't trust the other people on the road enough.
second, it's really dangerous (liability wise) to have another person on your bike. be careful

Women are the devil!!! You should know that you ant trust them for anything. If they say they are 25, expect them to be 10 years younger. If they say they are 30, expect them to be 10 years older. That's how it works

I really can't belive you take random girls for "spirited" rides, that is just begging for a huge lawsuit if not criminal charges if somthing goes wrong (i.e. what just happend). If you do this on the regular at least get some waivers made up or somthing. As someone who has a great respect for bikes I can't immagine cornering with a passenger...it's one thing to play with your own life... but a strangers?
Anyway I hope Grampa gets everything worked out and the girl has no permanent damage. Be careful out there!
