I have an aerospace contractor client who is getting me a 1/48 scale model of the F35 Joint Strike Fighter. He already got me a model of the F22 Raptor.

I wonder how drastic it alters the fuel consumption to be STOVL vs normal flight vs afterburners.
Just out of curiousity.

What an overpriced POS. The program is now 3x over budget. We don't need these systems. The military-industrial complex is the biggest mafia on the planet. I hope everyone is enjoying their serfdom, because well over 1/3 of your pay goes to shit like this. Keep beating those drums of war. That's how they make money. And the fools line up like lemmings.

I'd rather spend it on that than socialized medicine.

You must be lots of fun at parties.

No. He's right. We spend outrageous amounts of money making a few people rich so they can build us weapons we don't need.

Meanwhile, you have middle class families going bankrupt so they can keep their mothers from dying of breast cancer.

What difference does it make? We spend huge sums of money on pointless crap that has no purpose other than maybe, at some point, if it ever comes up, perhaps killing three guys. It's not the capabilities of an airplane that wins a battle anyway, it's the training of the pilot.

Vs what you call "socialized medicine," which lots of countries in the world have had for decades without issue. Somehow I don't see that as a poor trade. You'd really rather waste billions on meaningless projects that do nothing but waste resources than keep a few hundred million people healthy?

Good call :/
