even though it is sad, i think people spend their whole lives trying to get back to feeling like a kid. the best has past in most cases, so we're talking about mass denial.
I am sure in some situations people find the perfect mate, have great kids and enjoy life to the fullest even on small amount of income..... but then the majority of the people have kids that become a burden, need the dual income to try to keep up..... end up with a miserable marriage with kids they really don't enjoy.......( i would say a bunch of my old neighbors were in this boat)
Luckily.... my kids are great and I have learned how to make decent $ without having to work super hard (i make more than $100k like lots of people here)..... so i have a a fair amount of free time (most of the time anyway...not at the end of the year due to audits, budgets, etc...).
o ya...i would agree with C_unit..... i probably had some of the best times of my life in College.... no real responsibilities.... no net worth.... just drink some beer, exercise, try to score and study a little.....
