Technical Lego!

My two biggest projects were a motocross bike with single cylinder (in those days the pistons were square), and front and rear suspension and a 4WD with V6 engine 3 speed and reverse transmission, front, rear and all wheel drive selection, 2 way adjustable seats, rack and pinion steering and independant rear suspension. I think both are still in a reasonable state of assembly in my parents attic.

The senior generation will now weigh in. When I was a kid, none of this electronic stuff existed, even in people's minds. Think slide rules, crystal radios, the invention of TV. I loved my tricycle. I'd haul ass down a hill on it and splat! Headfirst into a cinderblock wall and off to the emergency room, again. Later it was soap box racers, down a steeper hill, faster, much faster (helmet, what's that?), splat into a really immovable object. Back to the emergency room. I may be trying to explain the reason for my, ah, different personality.

Man, do I feel old! My list:

1. Bionic Man - Had the spaceship which doubled as a medical lab (if you turned off the lights, there was this dial that glowed in the dark of an x-ray!); Had the Oscar action figure; had his enemy that was dressed in all black; on Col Austin's right arm, if you rolled back his skin, you could replace the two sections of the "computer controls"!; also had the back-pack AM radio (no batteries required. You just clipped it to an earth ground and viola!)

2. G.I. Joe - Had the helicopter (COOL!!); the boat, about 3 of his buddies; would parachute off the roof of the house; a bunch of different stuff

3. Spirograph!! - Can't believe no one mentioned this yet. You put different colored pins in and turn and turn and turn a geared piece to make designs. Got pretty elaborate.

4. Easy-Bake Oven - Liked to eat a lot so my mom figured this would be easier for her! Made brownies all the time!

5. Had a Tony-the-Tiger train set - Sent off box tops from Frosted Flakes and got this one year for Christmas.

6. Tonka Trucks - The big dump truck; would ride it down the hill at my grandparents house and cheat death...some things never change.

7. Hot Wheels - Duh...the coolest thing we ever did was start the track from the ROOF of our house!! These babies would fly!! Of course we had to use the Car Wash set to clean them up so they would go faster!!

8. Models - Darth Vader's TIE fighter, X-Wing fighter, Millennium Falcon and some others. The best ones were some monster series. We had the Wolfman, Dracula and Frankenstein (glowed in the dark! SCARY!!). My brother and I would build a plane model then burn it to make it look like it crashed. He blew on it to arrest the flames and two pieces of plastic dripped on my right wrist. Hurt like sh!t (still have the scares)!! Didn't drop the model though.

9. Evil Knievel - Had several motorcycles (even the Robbie Knievel bike!) and the car that exploded when it hit something; the EK motor-home which doubled as a jump ramp.

There's more but this is probably too long already. Oh, to be a kid again...
