Getting way too old for serious partying, bro. Takes too long to recover. BTW - we were down @ Jubilate last night. Pretty good Hawaiian band.

I know some of the same guys that the sax/keyboard player knows so I may be sitting in with those guys soon...

Let me know next time you head down there. I'll treat you to drinks so you don't have to worry about someone hacking your account.

How was that for an attempt to get back on topic?!

victim of credit fraud. someone used my SS# and took out a loan for about $30K, and from other ppl as well and it totalled over $250K.

I got a call from an FBI agent while I was in officer school. I thought it was all about my security background check since I was headed to Pentagon after school. But it turns out I was a victim of credit fraud. And the person who committed it??? One of my best friends. He was an assistant manager and had access to all ppl's SS#, including mine and was submitting for student loans and any other loans he could think of and was sending them to his P.O. Box. He got busted for mail fraud of all things and he's in Fed. prison for 45 yrs, and after that he's being sent back to his country (I won't mention which one to avoid stereotyping).

Worst part, if he asked me for that much, I would've given it to him. My credit report did NOT clear up until after I bought my car. My loan for the car was delayed for about 3 weeks, but they OK'd it since it was legit and I had FBI faxed them a letter.

It's NO Joke and it's NO fun.

he had multiple accounts and they busted him for tons of other stuff too, illegal housing project, illegal this illegal that. He knew what he was doing, but got greedy (I think). He did it for almost 3-5 years when they finally caught him. Yeah, 45 yrs also b/c they had him w/ soemthing else too that I cannot say, but that's why he's getting kicked out of this country after time served. I wish I could just see him/visit him and just ask him "why?"
Like, I said, he was one of my best friends.

theres only enough time before you get caught doing something illegal, it just isn't worth ruining your whole life.

Whoa... LT - that's really wild. I'm like you - if it's your of your best pals - you'd help them any way you could.

Razor - I think you're right - 45 years is more time than most folks get for killing someone (other than 1st degree murder, isn't it?)

My story is just whining in comparison to a full on identity theft...
