Default Feng Shui: do you believe in it?

Though Feng Shui has been mostly a Chinese thing, it has caught on in recent years here as well. I was curious to know if you believe in it, and if so, what are your experience with changing the objects around in the house and such to better improve the home's "Chi" (or "Qi")?

you should watch penn and tellers bullshit on showtime. they did an episode on this and they pretty muched proved that it is all a bunch of crap.

all of that chi business has no scientific bearing what so ever.

on the show they had three different "experts" all come into the same house and the furniture was set up exactly the same way for each of them, so in other words it was a controlled experiment.

all of the experts assured the curious homeowner that feng shui is an exact science. and they all did thier little presentation and pretended like they were drawing some chi energy map or some such horse shit.

they all ended up with entireley different results and they all claimed different science behind thier rearranging of the furniture.

one memorable thing was when one of the experts said "this red couch needs to be moved, red is the color of evil and it should not be in the family room" (not verbatim, i am just recalling it, but the overall gist is still the same)

and then the other expert says the exact opposite saying that red meant good luck, or something to that effect.

when it was all said and done the experst had charged like 1500 per day for thier services.

it is total bullshit. now i will say that getting some one elses opinion or expertise on how to rearrange your furniture is a good idea because people can offer outside perspective and maybe they will point you in the right direction. then maybe you will be happier or more efficient at home, and maybe that can translate into a better life. but no more than a good haircut, or a blowjob. there is nothing spiritual about it. and all of the experst are scam asrtists.

oh and also the city where feng shui is named after, was not a great of presperous place despite thier furniture arrangements. they were just as foryunate of unfrotunate as everyone else in the world

Just another harmless fad, as far as I'm concerned. I rank it with astrology, seances, and that strange woman who claims your pet will talk to her.

I am not certain if it is real or not either, but it is fallible to dismiss it on the basis of differing recommendations from a few individuals. Futhermore, there are plenty of so-called specialists (particularly the independent ones) that have barely the knowledge on their respective field to fool people. i.e. general contractor, computer support, massager, etc. Even established scientists have differing theories on many scientific thesis.

I think certain aspects of it have merit. I do not believe however that there is "spiritual energy" involved other than an individual feeling that things look better, or are more aesthetically arranged.

For instance, sitting at a table where you can see the entrances will give one a more relaxed feeling (especially if there is a pissed off ex in the area ).

I believe that mathematics plays a role; there are certain proportions that are more pleasing than others.

feng shui is no more than interior design, but has been inflated by bullshit artists as if it is some kind of "science." Gullible morons eat it up, nothing new there.

No, I don't believe it becaue my mom has preached it so much that I've rebelled and moved my bed to the other side of the room.

if that's the case, then i really suggest that you put your bed directly facing your door, with your feet straight towards the door when you sleep, that'll really freak out your parents (super bad luck). let me know how that turns out
