Lowes are much more organized and clean compare to the ghetto warehouse feel of Home Depot.

One thing I hate about HD, Ill go there to get like ten bags of dirt...It wasnt a planned trip and Im wearing heels, So I go and try to find an employee to help me, THEYRE ALL FEMALE! ughh So I ask one of them to call a guy to come help me move these 20 pound bags, and she tries to help me! So Im like forget about it. I just can't see having a girl help a girl. Its like, if you can do it I can do it. I dunno, i believe in chilvary.

There is a very large financial difference between Home Depot and Lowes.

Ever wonder why no one in HD gives a sh!t? Ever wonder why HD isnt organized? The answer is simple. Home depot doesnt own anything in the store. Everything in the store is actually owned by the manufacturer, and they just use HD as a gateway to sell. Thus, the employees dont care.

However, Lowes, owns everything inside the store, so, like any store, they want their staff to know their stuff and be able to sell.

Wonder no more.

I love those OSH ads making fun of warehouse stores. "Day 15, in the hardware aisle, maybe I'll find that rake I came for tomorrow. Will my kids remember me? Met another person yesterday, ... "
i love OSH. the only time i go to lowes is if i need a huge amount of building material, which is rare.

When they built a lowes and HD right beside eachother in the same year in my old town rumors went around that its two brothers that own each company?? Everytime one builds a store the other builds as close as he can to it??

I thought it was shit until I moved her to PGH PA and theres a lowes and HD right across the street from eachother!

Same deal in Washington PA!

Anyone ever heard that rumor??

BTW Lowes FTW!

our Lowes just relocated to 1/4 mile from the home depot.... it is much cleaner due to being newer.....

they both work well for me. I am more used to HD due to being there more often. Our employees at both store seem pretty good about finding stuff and being helpful.

I have found out that a local plumbing supply place offers better toilets for the same price as either Lowes or HD..... Guess that is why the big guys make big $ is due to overcharging for the lower quality stuff....

The ONLY time I go to HD is when Lowe's doesn't have what I need. HD employees look at you like you are speaking another language when you ask them anything (as a transplanted yankee in Tennessee, maybe it is a different language ).

For big lumber purchases, 84 Lumber is the only place I go. About 30% less than either big store on my last project.

Both stores have convenient locations for me but they share one fatal flaw. What they stock and sell is mostly crap quality. It doesn't matter if we're talking lumber, tools, lights, plumbing, or hardware. Specialty stores will kick both their @sses on quality.

Hey! I work at Home Depot! Most of you guys are right. The average employee at Home Depot is a worthless sack of poo and that includes me. I originally went to work for them becuase I needed a part time job while at school and I have always heard HD was a great place to work for. Right. The interview process was basically someone who managed to get promoted to an HR position asking me prewritten questions about my character and background. No questions about what my qualifications or really anything that mattered at all. The training process was just as stupid. They basically sit you down at a computer for a week and give you little animated tutorials on your department that are so boring you end up skipping the entire thing so you can GTFO. After that, they give you a stylish orange apron and send you on your way. So basically in the end, you have a store full of retards and convicts, not to mention the "managers" that hate their jobs. The only brightside is I get to run into stuff with a 10,000 pound forklift. Home Depot Sucks.
