Fifth gear for the driving comparison (hell the hosts actually CAN drive), TG for their cinematography.

Bar none, there are very few TV shows in the world that can top TG in that department.

Top Gear for the hosts - the cars are the same but the chemistry between the three makes the show.

Top Gear all the way.

Even if you don't like cars, it's still good TV.

I was just having a conversation last night with a female friend and she commented that she didn't like 5th Gear at all, but Top Gear is like a piece of art. Like was just mentioned, the cinematography makes it interesting for those who are even mildly interested in cars.

Plus, they do plenty of cool things like the "caravan" trip, cars racing jets, cars racing the a line of it's own fuel (as it burns), old car match-ups, who can find the best old crappy car, etc.

It's just some good ol family viewing...except when they make filthy jokes and use British slang that is so far underground you wouldn't understand unless you grew up on the streets of Manchester.

5th Gear reminds me of Motor Week stateside (but better); they stick to cars for car's sake.

Top Gear discusses the entirety of car culture; and frames it as such.

I like both, but it's the difference between getting the news, and getting the analysis behind the news.
