Finally broke down and got a Blu-Ray player.
I have not bought one yet. Waiting for them to hit $150 or so.
I have a 1080p 65 inch so it would be nice. I did a side by side demo in a high end store of a blu ray player on a 1080i and a 1080p with a few discs. Most movies you could only tell a slight difference if any. A movie with lots of CGI special effects like Pirates of The Carribean 3 was where I noticed the biggest difference between the two.
I love a good special effects movie, but since the are so few GOOD special effects movies these days, I see no benefit to blue ray if you are watching No Country for Old Men or Gone Baby Gone. So thats why its only worth about $150 to me. If you are constantly into movies like the Transformers higher on your shopping list.
I will still get one some day.

Just got a high (720) definition television this past weekend. Since I have yet to pay the extra $10 a month for high definition programming, I have notice no difference at all. I have tried getting the local channels, but since all the local digital channels are still broadcasting in SDTV, I still have not seen a difference.
