Are there actual numbers to back that up or is that one of those "arguments"?

As stated above, front plates are the ideal targets for laser. In most jurisdictions it's about revenue. Of course, no one's going to make that argument. The argument is always "safety". This one sounds like the usual "Think of the children!" emotional plea.

I suppose it is good for some. My Honda hoopty is over ten years old so my tags are only $35 a year. No biggie.
