Finally...no more 56 K!
Well, I'm finally moving away form the ranks of the 56K modem and into the ranks of a cable modem. After every single person I know has either cable or DSL...Roadrunner is coming tomorrow to install it for me. It only takes me like 1/2 hour now to download a song. After tomorrow, it'll only take a few minutes. And I'm damn excited!
Isn't it true though that the more people in your area that has cable and are using cable at the same time, the slower it gets?
I have cable modem at home and it sure beats 56k, plus it doesn't tie up the phone line!

At some point, all high-speed connections are shared, but some are more shared than others. The national average says that DSL is 11% faster than Cable, but that's not entirely accurate, it just depends on when you're on the computer.
The big advantage to DSL is that the company providing it can guarantee a speed, no Cable company can do that...nor can Satellite. The other advantage to DSL is it's usually provided by the major phone company, so the Net experience itself is better (11 emails, IM, Photo storage, etc.), Cable companies couldn't give too $hits about what they give you...they just have extra space to sell.

That graph means nothing, if you want to refute my claim you'll need to list every Cable company in the US, and every DSL company as well, you're wasting bandwidth again.
