Default Finding Good Driving Roads

Just wondering if you guys have any tips for finding good driving roads. I'm in PA where we're known for having some of the worst roads around, so even when I do find a back country road it's usually littered with potholes and other things to ruin the experience and possibly your car. If anyone is wondering I'm from South East PA about 45 minutes outside of Philadelphia. I have no problem driving a bit, if it's worth it but I don't know where to look. I'm surprised there's no online utility where people input info about good driver's roads all over the country, like a database. Seems like there should be

One of my buddies organizes a lot of drives, i think he just uses google maps to find some that might be good and then goes and scouts them

You most likely arent going to be able to tell about the potholes/gravel on the road/ etc until you actually drive it

I survey using an online map source as well. I really like googlemaps terrain feature...it helps when scouting mountain roads for elevation changes (and all the factors that are included w/that.

Definitely browse/ask in the Del-Val forum as you'll get more local insight. I also use google maps to scope out a good drive.

I don't know where in the philly area you are, but I lived up there a while ago and there is some fun to be had (safe and responsible of course). Start with the road that parallels the delaware river (river road on the PA side) and you'll find some fun off of that fo sho.

Yea I've done the Delaware River scenic route, it's fantastic. A lot of traffic though since it's route 32/611.

To answer your question, I'm in Doylestown.

http://www.madmaps.com/ - organized by region as well, with stops, poi, etc.

If you don't want potholes, move south of the Mason-Dixon line!
