Well... I have called student travel agencies like STA and they have been a few hundred more. Its worth a few hundred to me to look online. I'm in Law School and its a study abroad program (loans for the tuition, hotel, etc) so every little bit helps. Thats a few hundred I can use on having fun. Anyway, thanks for your input.

don't go to a student travel agency. Go to an independent agency, prepare to spend $30-50 for their time, and let them find you a cheap flight to somewhere in Europe. You aren't going to find any huge bargain at this point, but the agent can lock in a price for 24 hours while you contact your friend, have probably been to more than a few of the places you are thinking of going, and can give you more information than someone over the internet.

summer is peak for travel season and the prices fluctuate like crazy. I am going to Italy for the better part of June and we got lucky in finding tickets that were $700-800, add in an infant ticket for my 20 month old and I paid about 2k total. I would try allcheapfares.com..

Summer fares to Europe are always going to be high. In my searching London, Amsterdam, Paris, and Frankfurt are usually the cheapest to fly to.

As mentioned before find the lowest ticket on any site and then go direct to the airlines site. Usually they charge no fee for internet bookings. Also check the airline sites for any specials, although I doubt you'll find any to Europe in mid-summer unless someone just opened a new route.

As an aside, check out if whatever airlines you are using has a credit card. A lot will offer you some type of dollar credit when you sign up along with some free miles. Just watch for the annual fee to see if it's worthwhile.

With the Euro as high as it is, you'll recoup the $30-$50 in sensible spending over there in no time.

If you're flexible and have stones the size of Gibraltar, see if you can try to get a standby ticket.

Thanks guys, I just went ahead and bought a student ticket from Virgin Atlantic. Was 799. I had seen them for about 150 cheaper a month or so ago, but Im sure they will just go up from here.
