Default formal internet typing

had an debate with some people today and have had it with others on this board about typing shorthand on emails and the net.

some people are really uptight and strict about typing properly. capitalizing, typing out "you" instead of "u" etc. some people think it's rude and disrespectful to save some keystrokes.

what do u think?

if you don't feel your thoughts are important enough to take the time to make yourself clear and understandable, why should I take the time to read/listen to what you have to say?

On a message board, what you say and HOW you say it is sometimes all anyone sees of you. Assuming people won't judge you on your grammar/spelling/and use of 1337 speak and abbreviation is as assinine as assuming you're not judged by your wardrobe when meeting someone in person.

If you want people to treat you like an adult, type like one.

If you want people to treat you like a child, tYp3 liKe dis y0.

Sorry, it's second nature for me to follow each "a" with two S's when contributing to a thread in Off Topic

judging someone one how they type is pretty lame and can honestly say I don't do it.

judging them on WHAT they say is how i judge them.

regardless of reality, ur LAME if you do otherwise. try to justify why it matters how they type?

2nd, shorthand is for the sole purpose of saving time/being efficient. no meaning or clarity should be lost. you should read it cuz it has the same merit as any other post or msg written onthe board. in order to not be a hypocrite, you ought to refrain from the board altogether.

do u have trouble understanding if i type like this

or does it have to be written out completely for YOU to comprehend?

try to check ur snobbish attitude b4 answering

Hey, if you wanna wear flip flops and a wife beater wherever you go, more power to you.

But first impressions matter, like it or not.
