Freedom vs. Liberty......
Well, I've been thinking....
"...with liberty and Justice for all."
"Give me iberty or give me death."
"...liberty and the persuit of happiness."
It seems these great statesmen understood that there is a difference between liberty and justice.
"Freedom" by definition is unqualified, unrestricted, and unlimited. "Liberty", on the other hand, is freedom that is qualified, restricted, and limited. I am not "free" to do anything that hurts or opresses another individual. Yet, I have certain rights to "free" speach, etc.
So, being a country that believes in "life, liberty, and the persuit of happiness,"
Should we open our borders to all people?
Should we allow profiling of any kind?
Should we permit wiretapping?
Do we have the right to send cookies to Bin Laden's computer?

Liberty,
Is something that is trying to be full-filled - or has occured.
Freedom -
Is the result of the Liberty that was sought after. And the ability to react to the Liberty given to you.
