Freeway Radar Cameras
Same question here, speed cameras are popping up everywhere in Sydney Metro ... Anyone caught an unexpected one somewhere? Warning seems like the last priority here, I would believe. No news or mention of this, recently I believe.
Yeah,
I got a ticket from one in Sydney on Concord Road just after it was installed.
It was doing 70 in a 60 zone.
Scary thing was I following a friend in a Nissan 200SX. We were about 50m apart and we both got booked!

I don't know the validity, but I saw it and had to ask my "home team".

About thirty years ago we had a system called Orbis being tested on one of our minor highways. It consisted of a camera and two sensor strips buried in the roadway. The time taken to travel between the sensors was converted to miles per hour, and if this speed exceeded the posted limit, a picture was taken of the car and its license plate. A ticket would be issued and mailed to the unlucky perp.
Thanks to an outraged citizenry (and probably a bunch of kids) the system was doomed to failure nearly from the start. Some people would cover their front plate and drive through the trap at outrageous speeds, shooting the camera the bird or making other onscene gestures.
Since Texans seem to like to shoot up rural signage, it seemed like only a matter of time before Orbis would fall victim to such abuse; however, it never happened. The death blow to the system came when some enterprising person spray-painted Orbis' little eye black. No more pictures; no more Orbis. It turned out to be a several hundred thousand dollar fiasco, probably over a million in today's dollars.

I know where they are on the 10. It's right by the Staples Center area. I bet they only get the guys that are excessive. I usually drive between 70 to 80 mph, and no ticket yet via camera.
