Default Friend of Mine Crashed Her Audi Last Night!

She's wondering if her car is totalled or not, she was hit by an uninsured motorist and has an '02 Audi A4 sedan and she went into a ditch. Both airbags deployed, crushed passengerside headlight and bumper obviously, and the shop said the engine won't turn over at all. The hood was bent and the passenger-side doors were scraped up from the guardrail.

The shop is still checking it out but the windshield has a spiderweb crack on it, etc.

Can anyone take a guess if its totalled or not?

Luckily shes fine just minor bruises and burns from the airbags. I know its impossible to tell without pics but she said the insurance company told her normally when the windshield is busted and airbags deployed its totalled.

hockessin, as in hockessin delaware? and unfortunately, with what you've described it sounds like the car is totalled. air bag deployment is never good, and certainly the engine not turning over isn't a plus either. hope all is well.

the best way to tell is if it has frame damage. airbags deploying can mean anything... easily fixed. if the structure of the car is severely compromised, it won't be fixed. but judging by the damanges you just stated, door, hood airbag, it won't be totalled. it has to be at least 75% of the car's worth...

^ agree. glad to hear she got out of it ok but with that kind of damage (if it were me) there would be a shinning chance to get a new car. even a new version of the same car, or heck just get the exact same one cause that one (the one in the wreck) is never going to be the same.

The problem is the price of airbags. More and more cars are coming equiped with tons of airbags. The car can have minimum body damage, but if all the airbags deploy, the car is often totaled. I see it happening alot with used E46 Beemers....

If the hood and both fenders are damaged, that is 10 points

airbags are 10 points

if a door won't open correctly it is 8.

Other things will add more. Generally at 25 they total a car. That's how Nationwide does it.
