Frustrated saving up for my S2K
dude scrap stupid disneyland... I never got to do silly crap like that as a kid and im glad, dillusinal entertainment that the kid wont even remember! dont spoil her, if the econ stays like this or gets worse we may be eating catsup packet soup.
Haha, I have to say, I never went to Disneyland or preschool. Now I make more than most my friends with degrees (even though I regret not finishing mine), and have a 2008 S2000 in the driveway. I can't even remember Kindergarten so I have never really understood how preschool would be that beneficial. I understand you're just trying an awesome parent, but these activities will only offer entertainment briefly, then be a faint memory
I hear you man, we just bought a new house and along came the expense dejavu. First the fences than land scaping and now the property tax loomimg all over. I used my line of credit to buy an 03 s2k and called it a day, I will try to pay it off asap though. Btw is the disney trip is more for your daughter or the wife? Your daughter won't be able to go on most rides anyways because she is too little for most of them. Have fun and let us know when you do get the ride.
I also hate debt...that being said, I financed my S2000. The only reason I did so was because I got a loan through PenFed at 2.49. I have absolutely no issues borrowing money below the inflation rate, it's basically free money. Especially borrowing on a car that will likely not lose any value over the next few years - I got it at a very good price due to paint neglect which has since been fixed and then some. PenFed is now offering 1.99 loans, I would look into that. You'll pay far more in detailing products than you will in interest
Also, what are your primary cars? We save the most money by keeping our cars for as long as possible and resisting the temptation to get something new and shiny and depreciating. I have an '03 Accord with 191k miles and the wife has an '04 Accord with 122k miles. I'm very strict on maintenance and do everything myself, so they're both infinitely reliable and incredibly cheap to own.
Also, personally I wouldn't bring a kid to Disney until they're 5 or 6. There's just not much there for a very small child.

For me pre-school = 4, kindergarten = 5, first grade = 6
I too wouldn't take a kid to disneyland until after their 4; I mean, you don't retain like 99.9% of your lifes memories from before the age of 4.

+1 on dumping Disney. She's way too young for that. Most kids that young don't do too well with waiting in lines all day plus like everyone else said, they won't remember it even if they do know where they are.
I just don't let it pile up.
We talked and will be skipping pre-school this year and revisiting the discussion next year.

Mine is a '08 Chevy Cobalt XFE with 65k miles. I take care of my car and both are garaged so I'm tempted to even replace the engine if it goes up at 200K miles.
BTW an axe, shovel, and pack of garbage bags from Home Depot are much cheaper then a divorce attorney. j/k
Put together a plan to save up for one. Estimating 2 - 3&1/2 years though.
