Frustrated saving up for my S2K
As the sole income provider for the family, it does make things difficult. Was your wife always stay at home or did she work and you both agreed to have her stop her job etc? That makes a big difference. If it was all her decision, she should not have as much say, if it was mutual and a suggestion that she stop working than you lose that power.
First off, the reason kids under 3 are free is because they don't remember anything, nor do they take advantage of the park. Seems like a wasted $4000 to get "free admission" for the kid. I would scratch that trip and wait until the kid is 8 and do the trip once.
Now for the preschool thing, it would be absurd that she would push the kid into it at the age of 2-3, definitely no earlier than 4, all the other kids would be at a different age/level and would not be beneficial at all so another waste of money. Also what would you wife do all day if you kid was at school? Shop (spend your money), lay on the couch and watch tv? Seems like a waste, and would provide her time to get a job.
Lastly, its your money, create a plan that allows you to put away for yourself and she can do the same whatever, the purchase would be for you and not her. If you want the s2000 get the s2000 don't let her be a control freak.
