If I am not mistaken the pistols he used were the F & N 5 seven. This is like a miniature rifle round for a pistol. Able to penetrate armored vest. 20 rnd mags standard.
Get one while you can...this is a well-made little pistol, but (with proper media spin) will become as evil as the TEC-9 and StreetSweeper, both junk BTW.

I've shot this gun many times and it literally sounds like a rifle with minimal recoil. I need to get one because I am sure they will outlaw them now.

Damn. I always thought guns were bad but that gun is BAD! As in bad a**.

Statement from one of the investigators.

"Hasan, who worked at a hospital on the base, is accused of using two handguns in the shooting. Two law enforcement sources told CNN that one of the weapons used is an FN 5.7-millimeter pistol, a semiautomatic purchased legally at Guns Galore, a Killeen gun shop. Details on the other gun, identified only as a type of revolver, were not immediately available."

[QUOTE=Dunk'sDad,Nov 7 2009, 06:44 AM]Well, since you're bringing up Arabic-sounding names, here are a couple more:

- Captain Mir Ali, 3d Special Forces Group, awarded the Bronze Star with "V" device, Afghanistan 2005

- Sergeant First Class Ismael Iban, 2d Infantry Division, awarded the Silver Star, Iraq 2007

And let's not forget Master-at-Arms 2nd Class Michael Monsoor, awarded the Medal Of Honor, Iraq 2006.

So what's your point?

Thanks for the link. I've long been a fan of anything that fires the 5.7x28mm round. I would of course have vastly preferred that Hassan had tried it out on himself before using it on others.

Medal of Honor recipient Master-at-Arms 2nd Class Michael Monsoor was a Christian of Arab descent.
Not sure about the other two.
What's MY point? I'm essentially saying that you treat people as individuals...now what point are YOU trying to make?

Here's some data that may assist you:

There are about 15,000 Muslims that serve in our uniformed services.

There are about 3500 so-called "Arab-Americans" serving in uniform.

Are you implying that we should rid the armed services of all Muslims, or all Arab-Americans, or possibly both?

Can't imagine being a Muslim serving in the US military knowing well enough there are people serving besides you that fully believe the War on Terror is a War on Islam... Supposedly people put pictures of camels on his car referring to him as a camel jockey...

Plus, being an army psychiatrist, I think we can assume he has heard dozens if not hundreds of stories of soldiers returning from combat. I know personally, if I were to just read certain stories, it would make me think twice about things... Now consider it being your profession to speak to these soldiers and listen to their experiences, their nightmares, etc., and you can see why someone can lose it...

To the Islamophobes... wake up guys I'm assuming you're all living, breathing, thinking individuals, so start acting like it...

Not saying you're implying it, but it still doesn't justify violence.

Chuck Norris's thoughts:
"The questions that keep coming to my mind are: Have we become so tolerant and politically correct that we can't see or confront a rotten apple when it's right in front of our eyes? When our fear of discrimination enables our enemies, can't we see something is grimly amiss?

To those roughly 3,500 Muslims who faithfully serve in the U.S. military, God bless you. We appreciate what you do and pray for you along with all of our dedicated service men and women. I fully realize Muslim extremists don't represent mainstream Islam. We must not quarantine all Islamic theology and practice as un-American.

At the same time, we must not stick our heads in the religious sands and call all these fatal acts "isolated incidents." We should not ignore the systemic nature and embryonic potential of fanaticism inherent within many. And we must not allow our cultural infatuation with passivity and tolerance to restrain us from searching for and stopping such militant rudimentary resistance, especially on our military posts."
