Another great "oldie" worth a look is The Guns of Navarone.

 

Full-Metal Jacket is probably the first film I saw with so much vulgarities. Not that I have a problem with that or so but seeing it on TV sure is great to know that the show is quite indeed true to military training lifestyle. It sure is a great classic.

 

Saving Private Ryan is my personal fav, though I'm a fan of FMJ too. I can't wait for Band of Brothers to start running on HBO...the story of the 101st Airborne from D-Day until the end of the war. It's based on the book by Stephan Ambrose, who's written a couple of books of that nature, and if I remember correctly, was involved in Saving Private Ryan as well.

Oh, and I'm glad nobody has mentioned The Thin Red Line as a good war movie. That movie blew!
