The Future of Broadband. Which type is going to win?
Man that's a tough question. People seem to like Cable and in many cases it's faster than DSL. However, with my DSL I get 5 static IP's which I can't get from the cable providers. Most people don't need that though. It's also more secure but again most people don't care about that. I'm just glad they're available. dialup sucks
Long term, maybe in 10 years, wireless will take over just because of the convenience. For the next few years, cable owns - the cost is right, and you can get it pretty much anywhere you can get decent cable TV.

DSL probably won't win - DSL runs on phone lines, which are owned by phone companies, which are basically monopolies (again), so the competition factor will never be there.

The good thing about wireless(like directTV) is that they have very little investment at the customer site.theres also no infrastructure from the towers/satellites to the client. So if a neighborhood/city grows, it doesnt cost them any money to be able to reach them (save for the additional backend, which is required for dsl and cable).

I've had both cable and DSL services. IMO, I prefer DSL because the speed and connection were always consistent (it's also much faster). When I had cable it would always bog down in the evenings and weekends. What made my choice easy was not the type of technologiy, but was the quality of service I received from my providers (SureWest Internet [DSL] vs. ATT Cable). AT&T really blew that one!
It's still too early to tell who's going to win. I'm hoping wireless makes some major advances in the coming years!
