Just curious, as I just had a somewhat heated, but friendly debate with a friend of mine:

What do you think the music industry will look like 5 years from now? 10 years from now? Is it officially time to put a fork in the major label era?

I have been thinking for some time that labels will evolve from a publishing buissness into a purely promotional buisness and begin to work their way into some show/tour profits.

Gaugeing the path at which some musical artist are taking I have a feeling that in a decade everything will be tied in. Now we have clothes, cars, drinks all selling based on the novelity that it was created by someone who is in the industry. Eventually you'll have computers, TVs, entire food markets completely redone to draw the attention of the impressionable youth all for the purpose of making already wealthy musicians income triple in form.

(I wish spell check worked )
