I'm flirting with the $100K mark and that's a little more than I wanted to spend.
Last time I checked... you can't take it with you.

Very nice, the cost per sq./ft is more than I would have thought even with concrete.
What lighting are you going to use? Make sure you add more elect. plugs than you think you would ever use, also 220v for future acquisitions like compressor/welder etc.

That $100K figure includes what I've spent thus far on audio and video equipment for the room. Even picking some of the gear on audiogon and getting a hell of a deal on the projector, I'm well over $30K and not done (good thing I'm not starting from scratch). As Ubetit said, you can't take it with you (but I'm not ready to check out either). I appreciate the input, but (at the risk of disappointing everyone) I don't plan on using the garage for working on the cars. I've reached the age where I'd rather just pay someone else to do the work (unless it's minor). The shop area to which I referred earlier is for woodworking (as are most of the tools that will be stored in the garage). I will be using the shade of the garage for detailing my cars though.

The total square footage is a little over 1800 and I anticipate the final figure to be somewhere around $70K, but that includes some special materials for sound management and a connecting breezeway between the garage and deck.
