Default Getting married? DO NOT use House of Brides!

House of Brides has the worst customer service i have ever experienced. They claim to be the largest bridal company on the net, but they took 3 months longer to get 1 dress than a little local shop could get 3 dresses in; it even took them 1 month to send the order confirmation email.

My wedding is in 2.5 weeks and we still dont have the bridesmaid dress that we ordered in November. After hours on hold, I talked them into shipping it 2 day instead of ground, it is supposed to arrive at the bridesmaids house today, but who knows, they dont send tracking numbers. They though it would be ok for it to arrive a week before the wedding unaltered. worst part is, they require payment in full, so 5 months later you cant dispute it on your card.

the whole wedding tradition is a farce aimed at sucking money out of people. what else can you spend a years wages on for only 3 hours.

BTW, i know most of you are guys, but you definitely dont want to deal with your fiance after she deals with them... TRUST ME!

Needless to say my fiance blasted them on as many forums as she could.

spend 10% more and go local.

Dave

I agree with this. Find a shop you can visit. My fiancee found some dress designs she liked online, and located the nearest dealer... it was in Phoenix, so she had to fly an hour to the fitting, but it is worth it if you can talk face to face to the person selling you the dress.

You know what, I lucked out BIGTIME with my wife. Other than the fact that she's a big F1 fan like me, she was totally on board with the small intimate wedding plan.

We had ~80ppl and spent HALF of what many of my friends have. I feel for you dude, good luck and keep you chin up. Also, report these guys to the BBB if applicable.

From the title of this thread I thought you were talking about a mail order bride service or something

I too didn't know what House of Brides was - some sort of dating service?

kadeshpa, I have you one better - neither my g/f nor I feel the need to get married at all.

I introduced my oldest friend to my closest female friend pretty much my brotha and sister from another mother. Their getting married next year and it's gonna cost over $30k That might not be a lot for some people, but for two 22 year olds that still live with each of their parents, I don't think that's the smartest investment. But when your young and in love I guess no price is too big

PS- Be on the look out for the bachelor party picture thread next spring

Whether you're planning a large wedding or a small one, if you would like some very classy entertainment at your reception - much more personal than a DJ - [shameless plug]take a look at The Polite Side of Magic; the link's below.[/shameless plug]

Dude I swear I've seen you driving before. Ever drive down Fairview or Harbor?
