getting rid of birds
I have this tree on my front yard. I don't know what kind of tree it is, but it is very bushy and dense. And there must be like a bazillion birds living in it and it is so noisy with them chirping. It is driving me nuts. Doe anyone have any idea how to ward off birds?
ok, so far, the replies have not provided feasible solutions...although they are entertaining. the funny thing is, there are several cats in our neighborhood, and in addition to and other than nothing, they don't do anything.
Someone told me to hang CD's up in the trees, because the light reflecting off of them will scare away the birds. Kind of like a hi-tech scarecrow. but the tree is so dense, no light gets through.

Chainsaw and a woodchipper, voila! No more tree! You don't expect those birds to sit on your lawn do you?
But really, have you tried putting up a fake Owl or Eagle (whatever the preditory bird is for your probelm birds). Call the local fish and game office and ask. Also, you might call the local airport and ask what the airport manager does for bird control.
Then again, a flamethrower would be alot of fun.

Looks like they are crickets (in Malaysia, I'm not sure if that's the same thing you hear).
Also, as far as I can recall, they only come out after dusk and it stops later at night.

Are you sure they are birds? In Malaysia (that's where I grew up btw), there are tons of these little insects on certain trees that make this loud bird-like chirping noises. I'm not sure if they exist on these parts of the world though.

They are called "sim" (in Cantonese). I think they only live in humid weather, none in North America.
