Getting seriously hooked on Project Gotham Racing II for Xbox Live
Off-topic TalkWhere overpaid, underworked S2000 owners waste the worst part of their days before the drive home. This forum is for general chit chat and discussions not covered by the other off-topic forums.
I haven't signed for XboxLive yet. Does it cost? I am a cheapskate (part of the reason I haven't had a game console since 86 ;-) ) and may not sign up if it cost...
After two days of solid playing I have regained quite a bit of my dexterity and eye hand coordination. I also learned to hold the control more relaxed so my thumbs don't hurt.
Questions:
- How the F$$##k do you get the 93 MPH on the compact class speed trap? The best I can manage is 92MPH (rarely) and 91MPH consistently in the Ford Focus.
- Can you actually beat the Lancia in the One on One (compact class)? The best I can manage is lossing by 3 seconds.
Being obsesive compulsive means I am taking my sweet time on each class because I want to get platinum medals on each event before moving to the next class. So far it has proven very difficult and time consuming.
This is what I have after finishing the first two classes (just started the third one):
The only time challenge I have done is the S2000 one. My best time is 1.15.xx which is a long way from the 1.03.x I have read about.
Xbox live costs about $6 per month...correct me if I'm wrong. It's automatically deducted from the credit card you have registered with xbox live. Get it...you won't regret it
Cashout, with Xbox Live you can download the best Ghosts and see how they excelled at each challenge. In the Compact class Speed challenge (and some other speed challenges) it was easiest for me to stop at the first turn, back up, to the rail, and launch from there.
You will probably curse most at the higher medals in the American Muscle class. I know I am. That's where my last 9 Gold medals are taunting me.
The only problem with the voucher is you really need the headset to see what all the Live hoo-haa is about.

mmm.... I am already considering buying a wheel because my wife is 'turning challenged'. She can
play for about ten minutes but her thumbs get tired and she finds it hard to turn (specially left) after that. This of course frustrates he heck out of her.
Now the headset.... This is turning into an expensive little new years impulse buy...
I got to the Pacific Muscle series yesterday. I Made the mistake of buying the Skyline... What a waste of Kudos... The whole series seems designed to be totally unfavorable to that car. It slides so easily you can't win more than bronze with it.
I ended up buying the rx7 -- KickAsss!!!
Here is where I am:
Points 119380
Rank 12 (just started the Pacific Muscle series - have done 2 events)
Medals:
Silver 8
Gold 18
Platinum 6
Time attack
S2000 challenge 1:08.3xx (still far from the 1:03xx i heard about)
PS I got the Cobra TT wheel and whilst it took a wile to get used to it has reduced how long it takes to get a gold medal and the amount of sliding I do.
