What is the overall tax rate in Sweden? Here in Texas, taking into accout federal, social security, insurance and other taxes, I pay ~39% of my gross to taxes.

In addition to this, in Texas there is no state tax, but my annual home owners tax runs ~$7200/year.

Shipping a car can be expensive too.

If you like the snow during the winter, than Vancouver is not your city. Ontario/Alberta would be better (or really anywhere not on either coast, where the ocean keeps the coastline relatively warm and rainy).

Well, the snow part really doen

If you were an employee with no dependants:

In Alberta you would have $2396.80 after income tax, CPP and EI.
In Ontario you would have $2426.18 after income tax, CPP and EI.

There is no provincial sales tax in Alberta.

Don't forget to check out the Toronto Forum or one of the other Canadian Forums in the area where you will be moving.

Good luck, I know I'm up there a lot.
