give a cop the finger, they'll pull a gun on you
I would have pulled him over, but I would not have drawn weapons. Is that middle finger going to put a cop's life in danger? I think not. The guys were laughing at the cops so they were probably all giggly from the nickel blunt they just smoked. Don't smoke and drive
my point is cops swear to uphold the law. this one obviously didn't. This is just one of many cases where cops fail to meet the standards that they swear by. Regardless of circumstances, the person was not doing anything harmful or illegal and the cop was never in physical danger himself so a pull-over should never have been initiated.
Cops swear to uphold the law and unfortunately they translate that to mean "I AM GOD AND YOU PLEBES DO AS I PLEASE OR ELSE." They do not have the right to take things personally while on duty, they are representatives of the state. Like mingster said, it's a power trip. Unfortunately as you have all just shown me not many people give a rats ass when the system is abusive. How depressing.
Someone flicks you off, smile and blow a kiss. that's what i do. It's cowardly to pull a gun on an unarmed, boxed-in vehicle IMHO.

It's not that I don't give a rat's ass when the system is abusive. My point is, I was taught that you should respect the law and officers of the law. I have never been disrespectful of a police officer, even when I thought he was wrong, and I've never ended up face down on the pavement with a knee in the back of my head or with a drawn gun aimed at me.
Well, speaking from the other side, I would say he was not justified in the action but how many of you on a daily basis have to deal thugs, gangbangers, dopers etc. Not many I'd expect. His actions are understandable but not justified in this case. Hell, I even had a guy moon me once. I thought that if he wants to show his rearend in public that's his thing. Now if someone else complains that's another story entirely. You have to understand the mentality of some people. I've been called every name in the book and then some. It doesn't get under my skin. Not all law enforcement officers can do it. The issue with the cop was the disobeyance of the authority abused or not! No body likes a cop until they need one then it's a totally diffrent story.
I think if more people would just have a little common courtesy and respect toward other people (not just cops) we'd live in a much happier world. Most people usually have enough problems of their own without having to deal with rude, disrespectful people constantly.
You guys defend these losers? Okay, so the cop made one single mistake, he pursued a car because the driver had flipped him off. After that, all of the mistakes were on the citizens side, and I can't believe they did not get a citation!!!
If the dude had just pulled over, everyone would have lived happily ever after. But he diddn't. He ran.
First of all, failing to pull over when pursued is resisting arrest. Failure to follow orders and running AFTER stopping is further resisting arrest.
Officers put their lives in danger every single day, and they know it. When someone resists arrest, there is good reason to assume there is a reason for it. Some possible, and likely, reasons are that the person is a) armed, b) drunk, c) on drugs, d) on parole.
In all of those cases, the risk to the officer's life is significantly increased. When an officer's life is in danger, they have every right to protect themselves, and if that means detaining someone at gunpoint, then that is what they should do.
In this case, it sounds like the officers had every reason to believe the occupants of the car may be armed or dangerous because of their behavior.
Put yourself in the cop's position. A car is not pulling over, and takes off after he HAS pulled over. When they do pull over, the inhabitants are laughing and one jumps from the car running toward you with a baby, possibly concealing a firearm behind it. I dunno about you, but I would be scared shitless!! If the passenger had pulled a gun and killed both officers while they were trying to grab the baby, you would all have reacted very differently. From the officer's perspective, that is a very real possibility!!
