I think this pretty much sums up the character of at least some of the occupants:
One of the men inside the BMW grabbed an infant from the back seat and ran toward CHP officers Jason Joiner and Randy Forslund and a sheriff

A few weeks ago a gentleman in my office saw an SUV driver make an illegal lane change into a left turn lane. A motorcycle cop came up behind him and got on his loudspeaker, "After you make the turn, pull into the first driveway."
When the left arrow turned green, the driver waved at the office in a manner which suggested that he had no intention of pulling into the driveway, and he took off. The motorcycle cop pulled out his shotgun (I didn't even know that motorcycle cops carried shotguns!) and took off. When my friend finally saw them again the truck was pulled over, the occupants were face-down on the ground, there was also a patrol car there, and the officers were standing over the driver with their guns drawn.
Just because one has a right to do something doesn't mean that it's always a good idea to exercise it.

one time my friend was pulled over and was asked if he had any weapons, and my friend responded by saying "yea, I have two big guns right here" then pointed to his biceps, man the cops got pissed. The cop made him get out of the car and do EVERY sobriety test.
