Default Glaucoma Test How I Hate You

I had to go to the optometrist a few days ago to get my eyes checked and I forgot how much I hate that damn glaucoma eye puff test. I think most of you will know what I am talking about. For those of you that don't, you sit in a chair like the patient below on the left with your face pressed up against this machine of death. Then the doctor/assistant tells you to keep your eye open and it shoots this puff of air against your eye ball and it feels like you were attacked by the 3 Stooges.

I don't see what the big issue is.

ahahaha oh man, it's been awhile since i've done that.

There's another test [i don't even remember for what anymore] where the optometrist puts a brown solution drip in your eyes and it's sticky! So your feel all weird for a few minuntes, it was gross. But the best part was that you can't read nearby afterwards. So as you're driving the signs are fine until they get closer, then it gets all blurry and shit.

You are talking about 2 different things. The not being able to see close is from dilation of your pupils, the sticky stuff is for looking for scratches on the surface of the eye.

you are describing noncontact (airpuff) tonometry vs applanation (Goldman) tonometry. There is also the tonopen which is seldom used.

ask your eyedoc for the later if you don't like the airpuff.

edit: I found you a linky link

The worst part is the anticipation when you are sitting there with your face against the unit. Every little noise in the room makes me flinch.
