Going green...Just a fad or here to stay?
It seems that in the past 6 months or so, a lot of people have become obsessed with going green. They're dumping their trucks and SUVs in favor of hybrids, recycling, etc... Living in one of the most liberal cities in the midwest, I've done absolutely nothing. Is this going green just another fad that will pass in another 6 months, or is it here to stay?
BTW, in case this thread doesn't get locked or moved to the member's only side of this site, I'd like to say:
No, it is not a fad. In fact, when gas prices start rising up again, these 'going green' folks will be the ones who will be happy they dumped their trucks and picked up a new hybrid for cheaper than the same hybrid model will be once gas prices are sky high again.

as our technology gets better we are finding cheaper and easier ways of recycling. Years ago, people considered post consumer products dirty or cheap or not worthy is some way and now look at all the things made with post-consumer products.
I think everyone "wants" to do whats best for the planet and if a cheap renewable source of energy is found or perfected i am sure that most of the public will gladly accept it as long as it does interrupt their pursuit of happiness. This means the renewable source will have to give the same if not better range and give the same if not better performance.
Going green is a noble venture but the zealousness and the bandwagon effect is tiring. To each his/her own. Take it to whatever level you want to just dont get in my face with it.
the ideal has been around for decades, I think the tech is finally trying to catch up and todays communication saturation is bringing it to the forefront of peoples minds
