After all that, I didn't get a real conclusion.

1080p is what you want, but if you have a 1080i, it's koo anyway? Also, wtf is a 1080p tv that only accepts 1080i?

The 1st generation '1080p' TVs did not have 1080p inputs, only 1080p capable resolution. they could only accept 720p or 1080i signals and upscale them to 1080p. 1080i is the same resolution as 1080p, but its interlaced.. meaning basically half the lines are displayed at a given time so the picture is not as sharp or crisp.

Yeah, that's what I heard too...basicaly the human eye can't detect the difference between 1080i and 1080p. There is a difference, but supposedly its not enough for us to notice it or something...

Distance matters a great deal, but I can certainly tell the difference between high quality 1080i signal and 1080p signal from normal viewing distance (10-15ft) on my friends 60 inch DLP. I notice a huge difference between 720p and 480p on my 720p LCD projector, 90" screen from as far back as I can physically move.

I guess you got to have an eye for it to see/notice a difference. I hope you are using HDMI for your HD content and nothing else. PS3 is my only current 1.3 HDMI compliant device. I love everything so far on my 1080P Sony XBR2. The 720P projector is not bad too at 120" screen size. I love Home Theatre. I love watching and hearing HD anything. Just chiming in on this thread.

My employer provides bandwidth for the broadcast companies/studios. The higher the resolution source the higher fiber capacity needed on our network.

Me too. I bought one also. I did a lot of research first. It was well worth the price.
