Anything by P. G. Wodehouse[/b]

". . . Aunt Agatha . . . chews broken glass and kills rats with her teeth."

". . . she was about six feet from the O.P. to the prompt side and fit into my armchair as if it had been manufactured by someone who knew that they were wearing armchairs tight about the hips that season."

Michael Crichton = Tech semi fiction writer
Tom Clancy = military political action espionage

Just start at the first book of author and read all the books

I just finished Next by Crichton and it was good

anything by Grisham (with a very few exceptions) or stephen king (i recommend The Stand, The Bachman Books, Needful Things.)

The Stand is one of those epic books...you feel like you're along with the people for their journey. almost indescribable.
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini was a great read.
Digital Fortress by Dan Brown was fun.
Prozac Nation and More, Now, Again by Elizabeth Wurtzel are insightful.
Catch 22 by Joseph Heller
The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides is thought provoking, at very least.
We the Living, The Fountainhead, Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand are must reads.

these should keep you busy for a while

For interesting, I'd go with "Rainbow Six" by Tom Clancy. While it does throw you in the middle of a series of books, it's highly entertaining, fairly fast paced, and easy to read. I picked up the full-size hardcover for $3.
