Default "Good" Books You've Read

I've been looking for a relaxing hobby/activity to pick up with the free time I have in the evenings. So I figured I'd try reading. Anyways, what are some good books that get your attention from the get-go? I can't stand having to ready 80 pages before it gets interesting.

Just list the title, and type of book (adventure,crime,historic....etc)
If you found it interesting and entertaining I am willing to give it a shot.

Angels and Demons - Dan Brown (I guess it'd be adventure, crime, and historic lol) This book is AWESOME and will have you guessing to the very end.

Alan Greenspan's book - Age of Tribulation. (The biography is pretty intrigueing and the pictures with past presidents and such is really cool to browse through).

It might be weird, but I also like the Art of War. A lot of the parables can be correlated to subjects of today and it's just really fun to read.

Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett (historical: lots of sex and violence)
Shogun by James Clavell (historical: lots of violence, some sex)
All Tom Clancy's novels with Jack Ryan (plus Red Storm Rising)
Sherlock Holmes (always a good read)

I am a big John Grisham fan. His book deal with Law and the courtroom. A time to Kill (one of my favorites), The Pelican Brief, The Firm, etc.

If you want a fun book to read...either America by Jon Stewart or I am America, by Stephen Colbert. You kind of need to have an open mind for those.

correction. It's "I am America (And so can you!)"

umm....I'm a big horror/macabre fan, so you can't go wrong with some Stephen King. Pet Semetary, It, Bag of Bones. All Good

Oh, and check out The Bourne trilogy. I loved the movies, and the books were just as good [if not better]. Written by Robert Ludlum.

I am currently reading "The Federalist" (Hamilton, John Jay, Madison).

You need to know where you come from, to get where you been...or something like that.

The last couple books I've read in the past few weeks:

"The Blue Death," goes over water quality/history of epidemiology and into contemporary water quality issues.

"Good Germs, Bad Germs" Covers just about any bacterial issue you can think of, very well written, covers ALOT of science very lucidly

"Relative Stranger" A womans account of trying to figure out how her schizophrenic sister lived in the years between she last saw her and her sister's death.

"Final Exam:A Surgeon's Reflections on Mortality" Just what it sounds like.

and I am currently reading

"And the Band Played On" It is about the history of AIDS, focuses more on the politics of it.

(really really good one) Walking on Water - Derrick Jensen

^-- deals with the school system and his own way of teaching students. Very inspirational ... read this in my creative mind class.
