i will post pics in a bit. just went out and inspected the car. its got all sorts of wild life stuck in it. the only damage is to the passenger side carbon diffuser :-( looks like the spot where that massive tree branch hit my car and then proceeded to roll over it. 2 thick stress/pressure cracks around where it mounts to the body. the car is surprisingly clean, but i guess tornado force winds with hail and water will do that.

i am def not going out for any pics of the area as there is craziness out on the roads and i hear sirens non-stop. best to let the people do their job and stay outta the way. there are some wild pics on those links i posted. im sure as the day ends, a shit ton of them will emerge online.

stand by for pics...

Damn man. I remember the first time I was driving and I could hear just the tornado siren going off. That alone was enough to freak me out, so I couldn't imagine actually being that close to one.

Glad you made it out alive.

here is just a shot of some of the wildlife stuck on it.

then i found this guy poked into my condensor

this is crazy right here. this little branch from a tree that is very weak and flexible is wedged in between my window and seal! pass side.

and then the only real "damage" is the cracks in the diffuser: hard to see with the dreary light, but there are 2 of them about 5 inches apart. this is just of one.

other than that, just a bunch of mud under the car and in the wells. i lucked out like a sonofabitch! i havent tried to start the car after i got it home or wnything. i hope all is well from the momentary hydrolock. :-( ill be pulling plugs and loading up some pb blaster in the cyl's tonight just to be safe.

my ride home showed that countless others were not so fortunate.

oh, and the weather seal on my front door of the house blew through and there was an inch of standing water in a 6x6 tile area, and all but 2 of my screens on my windows are all gone. even for the big slider doors.they are probably in the lake behind my house.

Are you sure you sucked up water? Were you in a low spot or something? I don't know if this is even possible, but I can't help but wonder if the sudden & extreme drop in atmospheric pressure might have made your ECU go haywire and it couldn't compensate, therefore causing your car to stall.

Highly doubtful that your engine ingested water if you have the stock intake. Virtually impossible aside from submerging the intake or directing water directly into it.

This. I can't see you sucking up water with a stock air box, unless your car was full of water too... or maybe you were on some sort of decline and front of the car was under water...

^i dunno. whatever it was, the car was not happy, it was having a very very tough time moving along pretty much right when the hail an water started to flow like a water fall with a shit ton of water on the road. i started to accelerate through the light and as soon as the pressure jacked my ears, thats when i noticed the car "bogging" like crazy. but then again, it all happened so fast, but seemed like it lasted forever. then the rpms gradually fell(from like 3200) and i kept my foot on the gas at the same potion i was in, and it died and wouldt start for a good 40 seconds. then when it did, it ran shitty still till i pretty much got home(about 10 mins later).

i never even thought of the pressure effecting the ecu. that is a valid point. i took the lid off the oem box and there was substantial water that was pooled in there. but who knows.

im gonna go out in a sec and see if it starts up fine or what.

thanks for the other ideas guys

great news! the car starts right up. no hesitation, no bs. revs great!

here are the pics of inside the intake box. ha about a 1/8" - 1/4" or so of water standing in the little squares. i guess the majority of water can drain out through the weep holes in the bottom of the box. but they are super small. dont think they an manage a massive quty of water.

lid removed.

lid and box viewed for water

standing water in box

the red oil is from my K&n filter i guess. never seen it chillin in the bottom like that before. havnt re-oiled it since i got it either.

but it starts up great. whew. one less thing to worry about!

At least we now have real world tests that prove the top can withstand tornadoes
