damn i get chills looking at that. Effective, though, you gotta hand it to the little things.
I knew about this before, i think it's cool that modern medicine isn't so impressed with itself that it rejects this...it works, and other "primitive' methods work too. Obviously, sometimes antibiotics are vastly superior, but it's good to have other options.

I've known for years that maggots are useful because they'll eat necrotic (dead) tissue but not live tissue.

I thought that they taught this in elementary school these days.

I remember reading about this ages ago. During one of the wars, WW I, IIRC, when they found maggots in wounds, they sewed them shut with the maggots inside. The maggots kept the wound free from dead tissue. Soldiers with maggots generally did much better than their maggot-free counterparts.
