Default Got new PC but my Speakers went mute?

So I finally got my new rig and my speakers (Dell MMS 5650 5.1 surround) became mute. Funny thing is Sound control panel says it's working and I see the sound "bar" going up and down. My sound card is SoundBlaster SB X-Fi.

There are 3 lines that goes from the subwoofer to the ports at the back of my PC. Right now, I have them go into ports called "Center" (Yellow), "Rear" (Black) and "Side" (Light Green). This is correct, right?

Also, when I plug in my headset into the headset port at the front of the PC, some sounds kinda "come and go."

Any idea what's going on?

Thanks,

Did you install the right driver for the sound card. Check if there is any new updates and other operating software that use the sound card

I got a new PC at work and the same thing happened to me. I didn't want to tell the IT people 'cause I thought I broke the computer or something.

In the end, a simple reboot fixed it for me. Sounds simple, but it worked.

Good ole' Windows - reboots are still the cure all. I've had the same issue with my ThinkPad - no way to get the sound back unless you reboot.

I got confused because the color code of the hole was completely jacked up!

One is pink and the other is tarnish brown, easy to mistake one for the other.
