I forget what this thread was originally about, but I disagree with this. I have plenty of friends, but I use Facebook/Myspace for keeping in touch with people that I might not otherwise keep closely in touch with. It's particularly useful for hearing about friends that are organizing events, etc, so I can go to those events if I want to. (e.g., some of my "extended" friends are in bands, or whatever).

I don't need Facebook or Myspace to keep in touch with my friends that I talk to every week, just like I don't need s2ki to keep in touch with fellow car enthusiasts that I see on a regular basis. But that doesn't mean that it isn't useful for keeping in touch with people that I see less frequently but who are still pretty cool people.

 

 

if someone wants to see what im up to and considers them self my friend, they would call or text me. and i do the same to them.
i don't need to go online every few hours to see what mood they're in or what they are talking to mike from high school about.
and i also don't need ex girlfriends nosing in on my current life.

i'm not saying death to all facebook users. i'm just saying i don't use it for reasons that do not suit me. and also because i like to go against the grain.
