I am young and skinny and people my age think I am crazy for preferring pleated khakis in a professional setting. They give more room for stuff in pockets and aren't nut hugging.

Shorts for the win. Nothing is worth the discomfort of having to wear long pants. Helps to be retired, I guess.

My wife got me some khaki's that zip off into shorts for those douche bag restaurants that make you wear long pants. I sit down zip the lower legs and eat in comfort. You get the stink eye as you leave but at that point not much they can do. Pretty funny to see the reactions.

My sons are 9 and 7 years old and don't even own long pants. Shorts for them as well. Helps to live in So Cal with our great weather. We are leaving for Hawaii next Wednesday for some surfing and on our last trip a few months ago some fools got on the plane wearing long pants,WTF? Who goes to Hawaii in long pants?

depends. do you want to be fashionable/young looking, or stick with the older styles? sorry not trying to offend you pleat lovers out there, but they ARE going out of style.

at work sometimes it makes sense to not be quite as fashionable, cause the older folks are usually the ones in charge and you don't want to appear too young and trendy or you might not be taken seriously.

personally, i hate pleats and won't wear them at all. there's a single pleat in my dress slacks and i can barely put up with that. only real problem i have with flat fronts is its impossible to hide a semi.

Pleats are out of style and have been for some time now. You pleat lovers could stand to pick up a copy of GQ.

Pleats. My company has a pretty lax dress code, but when I do wear slacks or similar pants they are pleated. They just feel weird if they aren't. Anything else is plain.

I have seen people wear the 'casual' dockers that don't have pleats. I guess it's okay. I don't wear them as casual pants though, so that's why mine always have pleats. My casual wear is either jeans or shorts.
