Awesome, man. My friend just got a call a couple hours ago from the dealer letting him know his just arrived. He's picking it up tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to checking it out.

Yea there's a waiting list here the day it was released. I can't find a quiet stretch to hit 100mph, where is a person supposed to go to open up one of these babies.

That power to weight ratio is awesome; your bike is a tad over 3lbs./HP, whereas the stook is a little over 11 lbs./HP. Be careful!

Dah, just try 100 yard dash up your subdivision street...

One mean machine for sure... it'll be the new uberbike for squids all over the world.

Call me old-fashion but I'll stick with my V-twined RC-51.

That is until the new Honda V5 4stroke technology trickles down to the street!

I've never been too much of a fan of the v-twin sound. The GSXR1000 is sweet, though. I look forward to hearing it at redline once it's broken in...

Wirejock,

W/ a bike like that, you can hit 100 on a couple of stretches of Lime Creek, among many other places. Unlike even a fast car (or a Goldwing ), it only takes a couple of seconds! My biggest fear these days is the cops...they seem to be getting a lot more aggressive in busting sportbikers. Haven't been busted yet, but I've had enough close calls to make me slow waaay down...which is why my R1 is for sale, I can't ride it anywhere near it's capabilities on the street. I'll confine my sportbike adventures to the track after its gone. The Gixxer 1000 will be even more overkill, more uncomfortable, and a lot less reliable (OK, maybe I'm biased, but I've heard enough '00/'01 GSXR 750/600 stories to be pretty leery of Suz sportbikes)

Nice thing about about the fours these days is the amount of torque they're cranking out... and the HP to weight is amazing. I'm sure the gixxer is going to buck alot of riders off this year. <g>

What can I say tho... when it was time to buy a new bike last year it was between a R1 below MSRP or a RC-51 a tiny bit above. A V-twin lover at heart it was a no brainer. She's a bit porky but she loves to scream!

Keep the rubber down and let us know how your friend likes his bike!

The GSXR's are the result of a poor execution of a great design. I've had alot of wierd things break on my racebike.
But it wins races when it finishes.
