GT4 lives up to the hype! (This can be a spoiler for some)

I just opened and played GT4 Prologue, the demo released in Japan, and I must say there have been some significant improvements since the last installment!

The biggest thing I noticed is that I would be better off with the steering wheel instead of using the controller. It will probably be debatable, but controlling the cars has become more difficult and paying attention to your shift points is more noticable. Especially when launching your car and finding gears upon entering a turn.

The engine sounds are more characteristic of the cars. Driving the Skyline is more enjoyable compared to GT3 because it's not as generic sounding. I haven't progressed very far but looking forward to getting to the GT cars and hoping they have their unique sounds.

I tried 5 new tracks. New York is a fun one in that you really feel like you are racing downtown. There are long straights and plenty of 90 degree turns, block by block.

I really, really enjoyed the new rally tracks the most! There are animated people along the route and some actually jump out of your way! The rally cars perform more reallistically now and there is a heightened sense of danger as you approach cliff edges and race through narrow back alleys (At Citta de Aria there is a turn and downhill part that kind of feels like the corkscrew).

GT4 also will punish you if you go off track. You hit the dirt and you can't turn too well. Or hitting a curb on the rally track will slow you down momentarly.

It looks like a driving school is being used again (blah). And have already gotten a few gold awards. I wish they can get away from the license/driving school, I hate trying to pass them over and over again with each new GT game that comes out. I got all golds in GT, GT2 and GT3... isn't that enough?

However, the tracks are much better and extremely detailed! The cars sound and look better and most importantly, the driving is much more difficult!

Post you times if some of you are playing GT4 now!

I haven't progressed too far in the game since I am trying to figure out the japanese with my limited knowledge.

the first test is tough to get the gold. I think you have to launch the car just right because there isn't a lot you can do riding a Demio at 50kph around an oval twice. If you follow the blue line it might increase the distance you have to travel. I might be able to shave off time by sticking to the inside since you are going slow enough.

Has anyone gotten the gold yet? How have you done it?

I am trying to get all golds in the green section before continuing on because GT usually awards you a unique car.

I am loving the new Citti Di Aria track! Passing zones become a premium when there are two racers on the track.

Check out ebay, but don't forget to chip your PS2. Don't pay more than around $35 though.
