Default GTL - 100 reps workout

I lift 3-4 times a week almost every week for the past XX years.... Normal sets are warmup then max at about 5-6 reps then come back down in weight.

This past week I decided to do 100 reps of a few different lifts... HOLY SHIT AM I SORE!!!! I inclined 135lbs 100 reps (no clue how many sets it took me... i did 25, 12, then 10, 8, 8, 8, etc...... I was sore for 3-4 days......

Did the same with curls and tricepts.... 25 first set then progressivly down to 5-6 reps per set...... yesterday shoulders....

I needed to mix it up a little.... i was in a rut...

I am a believer in P90x programs. Just basically because I did it and it worked great for me.

I have read studies that say that when people do multiple sets of one exercise the biggest gains came from doing heavy and doing 2 sets. The people that did the third set gained very little extra over those that did just two. So I am not sure what doing 8 sets does except for maybe add stamina unless you are doing different kinds of sets like regular, incline, decline, close grip, wide grip etc.

But whatever works for each individual and keeps them working out is what is best.

i should probably try a P90X type thing but i have not..... i have always subscribed to few sets and few reps to go heavy and make gains in weight not in reps...... i did this 100rep thing for fun..... I think the NFL has some kind of 100 rep combine test that is similar.

Have you tried any crossfit workouts? They can be pretty high intensity and high reps. They are a lot of fun and I feel that I get a lot out of the workouts.

I do these DTP sets that Chris Gethin has in his 12 week trainer. You do reps 50 40 30 20 10 10 20 30 40 50. You increase the wieght as you go down and decrease as you go back up. It is brutal but it definately gives you an amazing workout.

i have p90x and i couldn't stand that instructor. so damn annoying. i wanna punch his face every time i heard his voice. he would make noise when he drinks water like "mmmmmm that's a good water...." WTF! and also have Insanity and damn that got annoying fast too. "don't forget to breathe" omg dude how many times are you gonna tell me to breathe? no shit shaun t every one have to breathe to survive. insanity will make you sweat like crazy but i don't like jumping around for an hour. i rather just lift.

try 100 wide grip palm facing away from you pull ups. it hurt like hell. but felt good.
