Russian Hackers Correct Bugs in Microsoft Office Software
An unidentified group of hackers from St. Petersburg, Russia managed to gain illegal access to Microsoft's computers in Redmond, Washington and rectify bugs that permeated the Office 2000 software. A Microsoft employee who asked not be named said that Bill Gates was furious with the attack because his programmers will now have to immediately come up with a whole new set of bugs before the public concludes that the company's software could actually be made reliable. "Our President, Steve Ballmer, has us going 24/7 on this until we get a sufficient number of "illegal operations" to pop up under normal use," the employee said.
A security expert who was privately consulted by Microsoft regarding the attack said executives were initially convinced the breach of security came at the hands of the Justice Department in search of information to force the company into a settlement. "They were relieved it wasn't Reno," he said.
