Had Pho Today
Pho is a Vietnamese hot rice noodle soup base food that comes in many different variations. However, most of it is centered around a beef clear broth that is cooked with the bone marrow of beef, exotic spices, ginger, whole onions not cut but peeled. Lotsa other ingredients before boiling up the noodle separately in another steaming pot of boiling water before added the other ingredients to your bowl and pouring the broth over to hot flash cook your other add in. There is shrimp, chicken, meatballs, raw beef shanks, well done beef shanks. I am a pho conosieur. The broth is very fragant and can sustain an appetite by itself.

I had it a couple of times while I was in Hanoi.
Absolutely excellent, I really loved it, and I guess it can't be much more authentic than coming from a local noodle shop in downtown Hanoi

Also it cost something stupid like US$1...... I love Vietnam!!!!

Actually in Hanoi the exchange rate is $1.00 American = $15,000 Vietnamese dollars and a bowl of Pho is about $6,000 Vietnamese dollar in some hard core authentic Pho restaurants so that would make it less than a dollar. I was there in November for 16 days.

Pho is vietnamese soup. It's very good. I like the juicy cube variation myself
Pho is broth, sprouts, basil, noodles and some kind of meat but can be veg I guess. I need a new oven. Mine is all over the place and the broiler is broken.

You are probably right on the price..... it was about 8 months ago that I was there so I couldn't remember.....
There was so much to eat as well.... the noodles, some beef (I think!!) balls, chicken, veg, the soup..... the "restaurant" if you can call it that was in a very old building, where they were cooking all the stuff on the street outside and the seating was very cramped.... trying to get as many people in as possible..... there is obvioulsy no such thing as fire regulations in Hanoi

The only problem with Pho is that they put so damn much MSG in it. MSG is really awful stuff. I was thirsty all afternoon yesterday.
